InterCaribbean Airways (interCaribbean) formally known as Air Turks & Caicos made it's inaugural flight on Wednesday 19th February 2014. The flight originated in Kingston Jamaica and landed Providenciales to a warm welcome and a watery arch. Enjoy the shots:
The Turks and Caicos Islands Airports Authority has broken ground for the redevelopment of the terminal building on Thursday 21st March, 2013. The footprint of the terminal building will almost be doubled by the end of construction in the next 18 months. This phase follows the extension of the runway and apron in 2011.
Here's a small collection of random photos taken around Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands. Evidence as to why the islands are aptly referred to as "Beautiful by Nature".
Bugaloo's is a blast from the past. The rebirth of sorts of a joint that served up some mouth watering conch dishes. It's back on the beach, only this time in the settlement of Five Cays, a long way from Blue Hills where it once was.
I had a few drinks while taking in the tradewinds beneath the trees adorning the back porch. I managed to snap a few photos in between.
Salt Cay is the second largest of the Turks Islands comprising Turks and Caicos Islands. Its size is a little over 2.5 square miles. The population of under 100 people all live in the capital Balfour Town on the west coast. It was once home to several hundred people, all supported by the salt industry. I paid a visit to the tiny island in October and took a few photos to share.
The saw-scaled curly-tailed Lizard (Leiocephalus carinatus) is a lizard species from the family of curly-tailed lizards (Leiocephalidae). It is native to the Turks and Caicos Islands and prefers sunny areas with loose rubble and rock. It is very shy and retreat into a burrow or cavity when frightened. Here are a few photos I was luck to snap from a distance:
Flying above the Bahamas on a typical Caribbean day is a joy to anyone with a camera. The cobalt blue sky and the turquoise water below interrupted by a few heaps of cumulus clouds is more than enough to draw a few clicks from even the most amateur photographer. These were my rendition taken on September 9th, 2012.
It was a typical July afternoon in Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands and Beth was pleased to model as I practiced shooting in diminishing light conditions.
